I was not in the OJHS library last year, but I am back this year and it has been busier than ever. I realized I had not published a post here this year and figured I should remedy that situation.
We have held several successful book talks this year for both the 7th and 8th grade classes. It is amazing the number of requests that come from our book talks. It is not uncommon to have a wait list of 10-20 students for a book.
I have also been able to go to OHS twice this year to have book talks with students and Mrs. Wienke, the high school librarian. We are trying to encourage the students to understand that we are a district-wide program and that reading is still important even if they no longer need AR points when in high school. We have a small, but dedicated, group and have had some great discussions and recommendations. Of course, they could just be coming for the donuts.
